Others' Buying Experiences: Story #1.
[ Story #1
| Story #2
]
Other people have sent me their buying experiences. This is the
story of a man who wishes to remain anonymous, so I'll call him
"Mr. M." He bought a U101 from Japan Rush. He's given me permission
to post his story on-line. The words are entirely his:
Day 1 - Order placed by phone, credit card charged immediately, representative said it will likely arrive at Japan Rush from Japan "tomorrow."
Day 9 - Reply to an order status email inquiry: "There was a small delay and it will likely arrive tomorrow
and will be sent out to you immediately."
Day 16 - Order status inquiry email ignored.
Day 17 - Told by phone that my PCG-U101 will be in the next batch of machines received, most likely arriving at Japan Rush in one week.
Day 24 - Order status inquiry email ignored.
Day 25 - Told by representative that they have my PCG-U101 and it would be configured and sent out soon.
Day 30 - Order status inquiry email ignored.
Day 32 - Told by phone that there had been delays but that I would receive an email "within a few hours" with a tracking number for the shipment; no email was received.
Day 35 - Received a call that they had "just received my laptop from Japan" and that it would be shipping; a tracking number was received via email shortly thereafter.
Day 37 - Laptop received - seems fine; all documentation is in Japanese only.
Well, he got it; congradulations, Mr. M!
As a side comment, the documentation for the U101
is all in Japanese, since nobody has translated any of it. There
are rumors floating around of English manuals, but they may be a
hoax; there's certainly no solid evidence that I've seen.
For now, you have to just muddle through with the Japanese as
best you can.
